Washington's 50% tariff on Canadian goods lands tomorrow and small exporters say it could halve their sales
Owners of small and mid-sized Canadian exporters told CBC they expect sales to fall by as much as half when the Section 338 duty takes effect on 19 August. The measure covers roughly C$28 billion in annual exports — about 5% of shipments to the United States — with Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia most exposed. This is the last business day to act: fix cross-border pricing, confirm which goods still qualify under CUSMA, and secure inventory positions before the duty applies.
